Dujam II. of Krk

Dujam II. of Krk - this duke became the progenitor of his family and is tied to the Neapolitan king Charles II. In 1300, he gave him the parish of Gacka and the territory of Otočac (comitatus Gezega; terra Otozaz). It is not the oldest mention of Gacka and Otočac, but it is certainly old and indisputable. Dujam II. is very involved in the turmoil on the Hungarian throne, so the young king Karlo Robert, out of great gratitude, confirms the parish of Gacka and now the town of Otočac (castrum Othochach) with a charter. The dukes of Krk (later the Frankopans) ruled Gacka Region from the 1300 until 1469, when the Hungarian king Matthias Corvin seized this property from them and founded the Senj Captaincy, the beginning of the Military Territory. The figure was made by the academic sculptor Janez Pirnat from Ljubljana – Slovenia.
