The Croatian Center for Indigenous Fish and Crayfish Species of Karst Waters, Otočac, was founded in 2006 in Otočac.

Activities of the center:

• research conducted by scientists and professionals on local fish and crustaceans in karst waters, focusing on their genetics and reproduction patterns
• fish stocking in karst waters
• developing initiatives and programs for the commercial breeding of native fish and crustaceans in karst waters
• building a brand

The center was officially opened on November 28, 2008.
