Constantine Porphyrogenet

Constantine Porphyrogenet (reigned from 945–958) – Byzantine emperor and writer. He wrote a work known under the Latin title De administrando imperio (On the Administration of the Empire). It is considered that the work was completed around the year 950. Without that work, early Croatian history would have been poorer. There, for the first time in history, the horonym Gacka (ΓΟΥΤΖΗΚΑ), which is read in Greek as Gutzeha, is mentioned. Also for the first time in history, the function and honor of ban (ΒΟΆΝΟΣ) is mentioned. It is extremely significant that Porphyrogenet states that all Croatian counties (counties) were ruled by princes, except for Gacka, Lika (ΛΙΤΖΑ) and Krbava (ΚΡΙΒΑΣΑ) which are ruled by a ban, emphasizing their uniqueness. The figure was made by academic sculptor Toni Marić from Mostar - Bosnia and Herzegovina.
