The figure of the old Otočac Inhabitant

The figure of the old Otočac Inhabitant (Ototschaner) is a symbolic representation of the Otočac Regiment (1746–1881). The Otočac Regiment (Otočaner Regiment N° 2) was founded on August 4, 1746 in the reform of the Military Frontier during the rule of Maria Theresa. It covered the area from the Adriatic Sea (with the exception of Senj) all the way to the border with Bosnia, covering approximately the northern half of today's Lika-Senj County. The headquarters of the regiment was Otočac, so it was built as its center, assuming all urban and economic functions for the entire territory belonging to it. The Otočac Regiment was officially abolished in 1881 with the development of the Military Frontier. The figure of the Old Otočac Inhabitant was created by academic sculptor Korbinian Huber from Germany.
