Otočac Captaincy (1540–1746) – was formed in the 16th century, the exact date of its establishment does not exist, it actually developed in the area of the Primorska Krajina. It included the area of ​​Gacka, excluding the Brinje area. The Otočac Captaincy supsisted in the struggle with the Ottomans until the Croatian Military Frontier in 1746 didn’t step in and founded the Otočac Regiment. The motif of the medieval Otočac, a city on the water, is symbolic of the Otočac Captaincy, created by the sculptor Janko Mošnja from Pula.
