Kolunić's anthology

Kolunić's anthology - a handwritten Glagolitic book modestly decorated but written in a beautiful and easy-to-read Croatian Glagolitic script. In a kind of dedication written by Levnardo (Leonardo), Gatan vicar, indicating that the transcription was completed on July 7, 1486, there is an extremely powerful maxim: “if books are hard to come by, anyone who reads books is honored by books”. This collection was named after the copyist Broz Kolunić, who did the work in the settlement of Kneža vas, not far from Otočac. The language in Kolunić's anthology is a real struggle between the native Chakavian and the dead Croatian Church Slavonic language. Kolunić's anthology is part of the very rich anthology literature of the Croatian Middle Ages, which excellently preserved the connection with the European literary movements of that era. The motif of the initials was created by the academic sculptor Carlos Roberto MongeSanchez from Mexico.
