Ivan Dominik Vukasović

Ivan Dominik Vukasović (1737 – 1799) - priest and writer, born in Senj, established in church circles, but after finishing his ministry in 1774, he was transfered from Perušić to the Otočac to be a parish priest in the Gacka region (at that time there was only the parish of Otočac, and all today's independent surrounding parishes were its chaplaincies). He stayed in Otočac for 18 years, until 1792 when he was transferred to the Zagreb diocese as a canon. He was a builder and restorer of many church buildings (annunciation chapel Mary the Blessed Virgin in Poljica). His most significant work, which he wrote in 1777 in German, is Geographical and historical new description of the Karlovac Generalate in the Kingdom of Croatia (1777). The figure was sculpted by academic sculptor George Dan Istrate from Romania.
