Aurel Kostelić

Aurel Kostelić (1933–1996) - Full professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Shipbuilding, born in Otočac. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Shipbuilding in Zagreb, where he received his doctorate (1975). He introduced a number of new subjects into the teaching: Application of electronic computers, Product design, Computer-assisted construction, Construction science, Informatics and modeling and Product theory. He was the originator of the idea of ​​establishing the Practicum for computer-aided construction at the university. He was a visiting scientist at foreign universities (Houston, Los Angeles, Rome, Milan, at the postgraduate study of the European Center for Peace of the United Nations (ECMIR), he participated in the founding of the study of electrical engineering at the University of Osijek. In international scientific circles, professor Kostelić is recognizable as the originator of Product Theory, which he developed as a member of the international association WDK (Workshop Design Konstruktion), and as a member of the international editorial board of the Journal of Engineering Design. Kostelić was also musically gifted, he had a beautiful and pleasant baritone, he sang for some time in the academic choir Ivan Goran Kovačić. The figure was created by academic sculptor Nikolay Borisovich Burtasenkov from Russia.
